Ballena Bay Yacht Club October 19-21, 2007

Three cheers to Harry & Carol for a great, Spooky weekend rendezvous at Ballena Bay Yacht Club. Weather was perfect and everyone had lots of fun. Thirteen boats were represented by 29 adults and 7 kids. Here's the whole list.

It was hard to tell if the kids or adults had more fun. (Were some of the adults acting like kids?) But right from a friendly Friday night everyone pitched in. John Melton grilled the beef to perfection aboard Freedom Won and all hands chowed down. No one went to bed hungry, and John's signature margaritas certainly helped add smiles.

The Ballena Bay YC crew were terrific too. They provided tables and drop cloths so the pumpkin carving could be done at a great u-shaped spread in the clubhouse. This provided great entertainment for all. Kids got really creative with the accessories Carol & Harry provided, and created lots of winners. Carol awarded prizes to all, and you can see the results in the pictures.

With the pumpkins safely carved, it was time for trick or treating. With the goulish gourds perched on foredecks, the kids made the rounds to collect goodies. Adult costumes were good too. Roger McClellan hid completely as Captain Gruff. Ron & Karen looked the part as the Pirate & the Hare, and Tom Jones was another good patch-eyed pirate. But who could top the devilish vampire Smokey and his bewitching bride Laurie. Here are three movie clips that capture the fun: (they are 3-5 MB, so it might take time to load.)

All hands returned to the clubhouse for a fine seafood linguini dinner cooked up by our Ballena Bay hosts - complete with a fabulous tiramisu dessert. We thanked them all for a great weekend, and retired quite full and happy.
