SF Giants vs Texas Rangers Baseball Game

Like Baseball? Like cruises? Then here's something different this year. With both Giants game tickets and the South Beach Marina just plain sold out, we're taking things into our own hands for the best of both worlds. People swoon at pictures of boats in McCovey Cove during games. Home run balls plop there on occasion, and it's an extremely small percentage of baseball fans who have ever actually been in McCovey Cove. Well here's your chance to be part of history. Raft up with fellow Islanders in McCovey Cove on Saturday, June 9th, turn up your radio (KNBR 680) and celebrate with cheers, beers, peanuts and crackerjack - we wouldn't care if we never got back! Game time is 1:05, so plan to get there and rafted up some time after noon. We've got star pitcher Dan Knox (Luna Sea) and cleanup hitter John Melton (Freedom Won) lined up to get there a bit early and snag the best anchoring spot. Just hail them on Channel 72 as you're approaching and they will let you know where to put your fenders as you raft up. Now comes the cruise part. For a change, we'll have a whole bunch of Islanders in one place for the START of a cruise. When the game ends, all those that want to are invited to set sail southbound to Brisbane Marina. All you have to do is roll out your jib and enjoy a blast reach down the Bay for a quick 6 miles to the marina. It won't be a race, but it's an incredible chance to get pictures of lots of Islanders sailing together. We'll communicate on VHF chnnel 72. When we arrive we'll have at least their 270' guest dock available. That's room for 7 Islanders side tied, and up to 14 if we raft off. And, best of all, we will be sponsored as a Cruise In by Sierra Point Yacht Club which makes the docking FREE! (As an aside, even if you don't want to raft up for a Giants game, you can spend your day sailing then join us at Brisbane Marina after about 5:00 PM. Mention your plans in the Comments section, then use VHF Channel 72 to communicate as you approach Brisbane and we'll be looking for you.) We're working on setting up a BBQ area for Saturday evening, possibly opening the Sierra Point YC bar if we have enough boats participating, and can have a potluck in any event. Ready for more good news? Sunday morning we're welcome to join SPYC for their great Sunday Brunch, between 9 & 11. The best deal in town: Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Vegetables, Fruit and Waffles with your choice of coffee or tea. And all that for just $8.00! There are three options for those arriving by car.
We'll list the boats that sign up for the glory of being recorded in McCovey Cove. Everyone else can just be jealous! (This list won't be updated again until about 5/25.)
