Islander 36 Association

2 nd Canadian All Islander Rendezvous
at Telegraph Harbour Marina
on Thetis Island, B.C.
Friday July 7 - Sunday July 9, 2006

Every Islander on Puget Sound and the Gulf Islands of Canada's fabled Inside Passage will want to mark their calendars for the Thetis Island All Islander Rendezvous in Telegraph Harbour Marina on July 7th, 8th, & 9th. Bert & Carey Vermeer are organizing this great opportunity to cruise in, meet new friends and swap stories and knowledge about the great islander boats - yes, that's all sizes and shapes of Islanders.

2nd Canadian Islander Rendezvous

Introduction

Yes, there will be a 2nd Canadian Islander Rendezvous in July of 2006. The 1st Rendezvous was so much fun, Carey & I will be hosting this one as well. I don’t know if we can meet the expectations that last year’s success demands, but we’re going to give it a worthwhile effort. If you didn’t make it to the 2005 Canadian Islander Rendezvous, thanks to webmaster and Rendezvous participant Rick Van Mell, the Islander 36 Association out of San Francisco have posted last years story on their web site at http://www.sailingsource.com/islander36/thetis05/thetis05.html. Lots of photos!

The 2006 edition will be at the same location, Telegraph harbour Marina on Thetis Island. If you’ve never been there have a look at http://www.telegraphharbour.com. An idyllic setting in the beautiful Gulf Islands, a great weekend destination. Participants will have to make their own reservations with Barbara & Ron Williamson. Moorage rates for 2006 will be $1.05 per foot with power at $4.50 per night. The Williamson’s cannot take e-mail reservations as they do not have a secure site for credit card numbers. Call them toll free at 800-246-6011 or fax at 250-246-2668.

Just like 2005, boats will probably begin gathering on the Friday evening for an informal gathering over a glass of wine. Saturday there are a number of options with most participants meeting other Islander owners and showing off their boats. There is a short ferry ride over to the town of Chemainus, or a walk along country roads to a local winery. Whatever your desires, we have reserved the pavilion and barbeque for the Saturday evening dinner. Carey & I will be supplying everything but whatever it is you wish to barbeque - and it is one GREAT BBQ! We ask everyone to also bring an appetizer. If you were there last year, you know what that can be like! Bring your own plates and cutlery!

For Sunday morning we’ll have the coffee urn fired up nice and early along with sticky buns and muffins. As in 2005, we’re going to try to keep the costs to a minimum (although I’ll be better prepared this year!). We hope to see many friends at this event, and would like to meet new Islander owners as well.

If you are thinking of attending this event, please use the reservation form below. We are planning to make up boat information sheets similar to 2005 and if we could receive the Reservation and Information Form as posted on this web page, it would make our work far more efficient. Thank you Rick for making this form available. I will be posting more information as July approaches.

For our friends who wish they could join us but can't make it this time, send in the form with the appropriate box checked and we'll share your thoughts at the rendezvous, and hope you can make it another time.
