6th Canadian All Islander Rendezvous
at Telegraph Harbour Marina
on Thetis Island, B.C.
Friday July 6 - Sunday July 8, 2012

Every Islander on Puget Sound and the Gulf Islands of Canada's fabled Inside Passage will want to mark their calendars for the Thetis Island All Islander Rendezvous in Telegraph Harbour Marina on July 6th, 7th, & 8th. Bert & Carey Vermeer (B-30 Natasha) carry on this great tradition and opportunity to cruise in, meet new friends and swap stories and knowledge about the great islander boats - yes, that's all sizes and shapes of Islanders.

6th Canadian Islander Rendezvous

Introduction

Yes, there will be a 6th Canadian Islander Rendezvous in July of 2012. Everyone seems to enjoy these, so Carey & I will be hosting this one and will aim to repeat the tried and true formula, with perhaps some new ideas along the way. If you've been to the previous ones, you know how much fun they are. If you didn’t, here are links to the stories and pictures of past years - once you look here, you'll really want to plan on coming!

2010 at Thetis Island,      2008 at Thetis Island,      2007 at Genoa Bay,      2006 at Thetis Island,      2005 at Thetis Island.

The 2012 edition will again be at Thetis Island, Telegraph Harbour Marina. If you’ve never been there have a look at http://www.telegraphharbour.com. An idyllic setting in the beautiful Gulf Islands, a great weekend destination. Moorage rates for 2012 will be $1.30 per foot with power at $6.00 for 15 amps and $8.00 for 30 amps per night. Telegraph Harbour Marina cannot take e-mail reservations as they do not have a secure site for credit card numbers. In addition to the reservation form below, participants will have to make their own dock reservations with Ron Faoro & Tara Kaulback. Call them toll free at 800-246-6011 or fax at 250-246-2668, and be sure to say you are joining the All Islander Rendezvous so you can be grouped with the fleet.

If you love the idea, but don't think you can get your boat there, come by car! Several folks have done that and Thetis is a great place to spend a weekend. It's a short ferry ride from Chemainus, and there are many Bed & Breakfast places to stay on the island - some right next to Telegraph Harbor Marina. Here's a link to Thetis Island, and some are listed on the Marina web site.

Just like past years, boats will probably begin gathering on the Friday evening for an informal gathering over a glass of wine. Saturday there are a number of options with most participants meeting other Islander owners and showing off their boats. There is a short ferry ride over to the town of Chemainus, or a walk along country roads to a local winery.

Whatever your desires, we have reserved the pavilion and barbeque for the Saturday evening dinner. Here's the plan for this year. Carey & I will provide the charcoal and everyone a baked (or stuffed!) potato with fixings, along with the traditional desert, and napkins plus a few plates and plasticware. To help us be more green and reduce waste, bring up your own plates, cutlery and beverage glasses. You will bring the entree you wish to barbeque (and it is one GREAT BBQ!) and beverage of choice. To spread the rest of the food load, we ask Islanders 32 feet or smaller to also bring an appetizer to share, and Islanders 33 feet and longer to bring a salad to share with dinner. If you've been to a Canadian Rendezvous, you know how good they can be!

For Sunday morning we’ll have the coffee urn fired up nice and early along with sticky buns and muffins, or maybe a potluck breakfast, or is there a volunteer who would like to be breakfast chef?

As always, we’re going to try to keep the costs to a minimum, but there will be contribution fee per boat to cover our reservation for the pavilion, charcoal, sides and dessert. In the past this has been in the $20 - $25 range.

We hope to see many friends at this event, and would like to meet new Islander owners as well, particularly from lower Puget Sound and Islander fans from anywhere!

Our terrific logo comes compliments of I-28 owner Pandora Nash-Karmer who runs a graphic design & marketing company called Pandora & Company, and has done the logos for the San Francisco All-Islander rendezvous as well. Look for it to be popping up on various items at the rendezvous!

If you want to customize something, you can download the logo, then print it on an iron-on transfer page, and apply it to shirts or other items. Here's a link to a file big enough to give you a pretty good image on most anything: 9 MB Logo. For the really creative, here's a link to a page of logos for different size Islanders: Islander logos.

If you are thinking of attending this event, please use the reservation form below. We are planning to make up boat information sheets similar to past years and if we could receive the Reservation and Information Form as posted on this web page, it would make our work far more efficient. I will be posting more information as July approaches.

For our friends who wish they could join us but can't make it this time, send in the form with the appropriate box checked and we'll share your thoughts at the rendezvous, and hope you can make it another time.
