2012 Master I-36 Calendar
Racing, Cruising & Events

Here is your Master I-36 Events Calendar for 2012. The mainly racing events are highlighted in green, and the Cruises and other Events are in light rose color. This year we would like to encorage all members to participate in as many types of events as they can. Racers can come to a cruise or two; Cruisers can get their feet wet with a fun race here and there. A particularly good way to do that is to sign up for the YRA Party Circuit. That's just three weekends, and for $5 more you can add the Summer Sailstice race on June 23rd.

Your Race & Cruise leaders have drafted a fun 2012 season. Plan to Attend the Spring Meeting on March 17th at Golden Gate YC to hear all of the details!

Events that are great for everyone - racers and cruisers alike - are highlighted in light yellow. That includes events like the Spring & Fall Meetings, the Sail Trim Clinic, plus the Nationals Regatta and the All Islander Rendezvous.

So mark your calendars, then come see how much fun it is to participate in Islander events.

2012 Racing Schedule
Fleet Captain Dan Knox

For 2012 we will have a 15 race Season's Championship series which combines the YRA One Design series and the Party Circuit. Boats may sail with or without spinnakers, and will be scored separately so there will be a Spinnaker Champion and a Non-Spinnaker Champion - but everyone will start together in one section. Once a boat flies a spinnaker, it will be scored for the season as a Spinnaker boat.

The 15 races are spread over 11 days of racing and 8 different weekends. There will be 4 days with 2 races per day, all the rest are 1 race per day. For scoring purposes, there will be 1 throwout for the first 6 races; 2 after 8 races; 3 after 10 races; and 4 after 12 races.

Right now is a good time to sign up for racing in 2012! Talk to Fleet Captain Dan Knox and start lining up a crew. Ask Dan for help in making your season entry if you haven't done it before. Here's a link to the YRA Sign-Up.

We'd like all past and a few new racers out there. If you haven't been measured, contact our Measurer Lou Zevanov ( louzev@comcast.net, or (925) 846-1112 ) to schedule your boat measurement so you can get a Measurement Certificate. It's an easy process, just contact Lou to get started. You can check out the requirements and process at Racer Certification

It's a good idea to read (and reread!) the structure and Sailing Instructions for the YRA One Design Class Association (ODCA) series. A link is: ODCA Instructions..

You can find out more about these, and other, races on the YRA Master Calendar. Just scroll over to the far right of the table for a telephone and email contact for individual race information.

2012 Cruising/Events Schedule
Cruise Chiar Gina & Richard Doyle

From your '12 Cruise Chairs, Gina and Richard Doyle. This is our story and we're sticking to it.

Here it is folks, your 2012 fantasy cruises. We have a rich agenda intending to arouse your interest in hanging out with your Islander friends and friends to be. We are going to have fun . We are going to typically have favorable tides and currents. We are going to have fun. I'm being redundant. Why go for any other reason? Our cruising calender syncs up with the YRA One Design and Party Circuit Series. Dovetailed with our Spring and Fall Meetings, we all could get some serious boat time. Beats working.

We're going to do a "Delta Ha Ha" over the 4th of July week. We will start at the Richmond YC on Saturday 6/30 and end up at the Benicia YC on Saturday 7/7. There will be stops along the way at Pittsburg, Stockton, and Willow Berm Marina. We will have options for those who want to spend some time on the hook. And options for those who don't. Join us for some/all of this cruise. Let's make this easy. Let's really get away from reality without going all that far. Let's go have some fun.

We will additionally have weekend cruises to Coyote Point, Angel Island, Encinal YC, and Half Moon Bay. We'll also do the ultimate cheap seat baseball day trip with a Saturday afternoon raft up in McCovey Cove. A little something for everyone.

By the way, let's go have some fun!

Usually the Events Page will have information and a reservation form for the next one or two events. In addition, some bigger events will have their own "Info & Reservations" page that you can click on for more information, and to let the Cruise Coordinators know you are joining the fleet. We will add those links to the schedule below when they become available.

If you have questions, or would like to volunteer to be an Event Coordinator, email or call the Cruise Chair Richard & Gina Doyle, (415) 457-6430. We are looking forward to meeting up with as many of you as we can.
