2016 Cruise Schedule

Welcome to the first edition of your creative 2016 Islander 36 Cruise Schedule The theme is inclusion and family fare.

We'll add links you can click on to "Get Details / Make Reservations," and to let the Cruise Coordinators know you are joining the fleet. On-line registration forms will also be available for the current event on the Events page about a month before the event.

Friday, Jan 1 'Round Alameda Parade This is a chance to get on the water and kick off the New Year with a blast. To see 2016's fun, follow: 'Round Alameda Parade.
Sat. Mar 19 Spring Meeting at Golden Gate Yacht Club Come join us to kick off a great 2016 season. Drive over Saturday morning early, or even sail with a friend Friday night, and be ready when the members sign in 1130 Saturday. The Spring Meeting will cover the Race and Cruise programs for 2016 and Andrew Vik of GEJA fame! Documentary on his cruising in the med and other tall tales will delight new and old alike! Slips are full up as of 3/1/2016, but reservations are open for seating and meal choices!

Sat, April 23 Treasures and more at Treasure Island Flea Market Treat the family to a day on the Bay and lunch in Clipper Cove. Music, Food and Friends are included at the Flea Market food venders! I am told some good bargains can be had as well! Slips are limited, but we will have dock space reserved in advance…details to follow @ Spring meeting!
Sat May 7 Ayala Cove, Angel Island Flotilla for Islanders and Newbies - All Islanders raft up in the Cove and meet a fellow member or more! Rendezvous at End of Channel by Emery Cove (1000 hours) to get there early to grab a hook as we sail, pot luck, go ashore and enjoy music from the dock? Ever do a med tie and raft up?? Can be fun for all! Angel Island sign-Up.
Sat. June 18 Summer Sailstice at Encinal Yacht Club

Cruisers, Racers and interested Islander owners are invited to this celebration of the longest sailing day of the year at Encinal YC. Encinal will have music, vendors, a nice warm pool to swim in, and maybe even a USCG rescue operation out in the Estuary. This will be a popular event, and Coordinator Bill Nork will reserve some dock space for Islanders if we get signed up early. Sat- Mon July 2-4 July 4th Benicia Fireworks Cruise In Slips for 10 boats reserved for 2 nights! Monday, July 4th are fireworks and more! Sail from Treasure Island by 1000 hour to slips at B Dock. Member Ruby & Rob will host another informal party on the hill at their "Art Palace and B&B" for July 3 and a parade down First St. is scheduled by the City! Please note, there are only 10 slips and it is first come, first served. Get your reservations in early at Benicia Details.
Sat - Mon, Sept 3-5Labor Day Cruise to Half Moon Bay Off shore flotilla with Encinal Yacht Club out the Gate and south to the other Bay! This is a good way to see the coast with friends and enjoy an overnight in the harbor. Nice restaurants and entertainment on shore or have provisions for two days! I am told that it will be 5 +/- hours to get there but it is worth it. The weather should be good and the hospitality of the Yacht Club includes water taxi to shore! New Date!
Coyote Point Destination Challenge\Cruise This is a new event for Islanders, Friends and NEWBIES for a fun sail, point to point race (?) and Party at the Docks for all. Prizes will be awarded for win, place and show! We welcome sailors who want to have a fun race or not! Have dinner on boats, pot luck or wine & dine at the Yacht Club! Guest dock available for 8-10 boats with night guest services! Get your reservations in early at Coyote Point Cruie Details.
Sat. Oct 1I-36 Nationals Regatta This is the last official race for our group with bragging rights! Details for the event are Standard for the Organizing Authority who has been the Golden Gate Yacht Club in years past. The race committee and Chair Eric Mueller will have more data soon.
Sat. Nov 5Fall Meeting & Winners' Dinner at Island Yacht Club Note Change of Venue! Come help celebrate the Islander 36, and the Association's 42nd year of sailing, racing, and cruising all around San Francisco Bay, and beyond. It's also a wonderful way to wrap up the year, getting dressed up a bit and enjoying the company of the skippers and crews you've sailed with all year. It is time for Owners, Crew, and Special Guests to celebrate at the Islander 36 Fall Meeting, Saturday evening, November 5th, at the Island Yacht Club.

The Islander Association establishes its annual Cruise schedule based on the general input of members, and may include destinations around the Bay, on river tributaries, and outside the Golden Gate. However, the Association assumes no liability for any event. It is the sole responsibility of each individual owner to decide if his or her boat and crew are suitable for a given event, and whether to participate, start or continue in any event.
